Kim Schmeits learned the art of metal-smithing while earning her degrees in fine arts. She received her post-grad in paintings conservation in Antwerp, Belgium and has lived and worked in Europe, Mexico City, and the U.S., always gathering artistic inspiration from her travels along the way.

 When she returned to the U.S. and Sarasota several years ago, Kim decided to reach back to her roots in silver-smithing. Realizing how much she loved working with fine metals and gemstones, she created Sugar Sand Silver.  Working with sterling silver, natural stones, and pearls, each of Kim’s pieces is hand-crafted in her Sarasota studio. She now also offers several gold-filled styles.
